Amiquip Soft Chews for Senior Dogs

I haveGreat! using this for about a month. I have a 12yr old blue nose pit bull. At his age now i started to notice him staring off into nothing alot and not being very attentive, it was so easy for me to sneak up on him and scare him. Thats something that I could never do when he was younger. Since I have been giving my dog this i havnt been seeing him being spaced out like before. He has been running around my yard more now as well. My dog is very picky treats I give him. When I first gave this to him he didnt eat it right away but I left it there all day and then he ate, which is good. It was easy for him to chew and i guess he likes the taste because now he eats that before his food. I didnt notice any side effects at all. My dog did not have a reaction which i was afraid of that happening. He uses the bathroom normally as well. I usually give this to my dog every two times a week just incase my dog had a bad reaction.

So far I'm enjoying giving these to my older dog. It seems to be effective as he was quite slow to walk and get up from laying down prior to taking them. He's about 3 weeks in and seems to have a little bit more energy and can walk with more ease and get up.

He definitely enjoys eating them. They're a small cube chew. There is no bad odor when I open the canister either. To smell them, you really have to put the jar or chew up to your nose. The chew seems to have a nice soft texture - it's not too firm bit isn't so soft that it falls a apart. For what it's worth, I do plan to continue to buy them for him as it is doing something for him.

Great texture and easy to break into smaller pieces. The dogs love these chews. They are at their half life and we want to promote healthy aging while they're still active!

All three pets seemed perplexed on my first dose. The spit them out. So I smushed them a little, and they LOVED them. (Never had to do that again btw.)I have used these on our three large dogs, two which are elderly. Used them for a couple of days now. I see more pep in their step and they really look forward to getting a 'treat'. I wish they were a little cheaper (minus the star), but overall I suppose they will be worth it. It will get pricey though as you have to give 2 per day, per pet, times three dogs for me. So, jury is out. I am very please with how quickly they seemed to take effect. All three dogs ate them, got energy and they see to love they taste. Nice job!

Most have never heard of the key ingredients (nor had I): PQQ (Pyrroloquinoline Quinone + PEA (Palmitoylethanolamide). The first is described as supporting mitochondrial function and cellular energy processes, and the second as supporting a "healthy" inflammatory response and energy balance. The approach is described as "daily long-term support, not short-term fixes." It likewise mentions a pilot study that was placebo-controlled and conducted by veterinarians. The results were reported to be overwhelmingly positive in older animals that had easier movements and seemingly overall vitality. This supplement is targeted at the older dog, but can be used proactively for all. It comes in a bottle of 90 chewable tablets that are described as "duck" flavored, and the average medium-sized dog takes one per day, with smaller and larger dogs "dosed" by weight accordingly.

Sounds great, but these are not the typical inclusions for similar supplements, so my own veterinarian who does keep up with many areas of current research was intrigued (and aware these compounds have been studied in humans and that both were naturally-occurring ingredients) but needed to spend a little time researching these ingredients before advising me whether or not to give it a try for my nearly 15 year old, but still pretty active female dog. She does have fairly advanced osteoarthritis, treated aggressively medically and via diet and some nutritional supplements, but remains able to do a several-mile walk at the dog park each morning.

So, while positive outcome research is more robust with PQQ, both have been found to be generally safe, with PEQ less studied, but considered so for at least a short-term trial, and neither seemed to concern my veterinarian in terms of doing so, combined with my current veterinary anti-inflammatory medication and dietary regimen. So, while I can only present a few days of findings based on acceptance and any adverse reactions, thus far, she has had no GI upset or other problems. While she is not typically a picky dog with treats, the chewy nature and the duck flavoring are not especially appealing to her, and I have had to break the chewable in two and give each piece dipped in a commercial soft cheese spread. That seems to work.

So, based on the promise of these ingredients, based on both some limited animal studies and a few more in humans, I find promise in this supplement. I do wish she liked the flavor and formulation more, but that's a minor issue. So, based on the initial few days' trial and the science behind the formulation, a definite 4-stars and a fifth in a few weeks if I can see benefit. The price seems commensurate with these compounds and the studies supporting them. Recommend.

My dog eats these without a fight or fuss. I dont get the impression they are her favorite 'treat' but I appreciate that they are good for her and can give her just 1 a day for effective help towards her aging joints. I appreciate that with the dosage of 1 a day, for a medium sized dog, thus container actually lasts a long time. Good value for her size, how long these last and the ingredients are good. They are a small cube shape that is semi hard so they hold together well but also chew easily, unlike many vitamin treats where half the container becomes broken down tiny bits, they hold their form well. I cant speak to how good these taste but they dont smell bad so hopefully they are decent! Happy to gove my dog something that will keep her energetic and mobile!

We have a Border Collie with hip and joint issues so we have tried to stay in front of any reduction in her mobility.
We are giving this to her as a preventative supplement.
One of the bonuses of this supplement is that it is duck flavored and she thinks it a treat.
I haven't noticed any side effects or any digestive issues.
I will continue to give her the recommended dosage.

My senior dog has been on the product 1 week. Before starting the product he was dragging behind me on walks. By the 3rd day he was walking ahead of me. I’m waiting to see if it helps him be able to lay down more easily.

I know these take a while to work, but I saw a difference in our dog within the first week! Hopefully it keeps getting better from here!

PQQ and PEA are not the typical ingredients for dog chews, so I did some research and was really impressed. These really seem like a next-generation of supplements for old dogs, and I'm glad I found them.

I noticed his joints got way better, he doesn't hesitate as much, and his legs don't shake like they used to. Never had such clear results from any other dog chews! Will it help him actually live longer? Time will tell, but it sure looks like he'll feel a lot better everyday.

I got these for my 10-year-old yellow lab. She always looked forward to eating them so they get a taste seal of approval. However, I only got one month supply so I don’t know about the long-term effects. There certainly weren’t any negative ones that I could observe. I will say it was a little bit inconvenient because of her size and weight that I had to give her one cube and then cut one in half. Would like it would be nice if they got the size of the cubes down to where you didn’t have to cut them in half.

It’s hard to say how these will work long term but short term they seem to be helping my older dog. She also likes the taste of them and so far she is digesting them well. We will see long term but for now we are happy with the product

Both humans and dogs naturally generate PEA in response to stress or injury to reduce inflammation and provide pain relief. That is the main active ingredient in this dog supplement. The other ingredients are natural, such as citric acid for the preservative and other ingredients to add flavor. Our older dog struggles sometimes with joint pain (arthritis) along with other discomforts that come with age. These can reduce his activity level, but our dog still loves to go out on walks. Supplements that help him to feel comfortable while remaining active make a big difference in his quality and enjoyment of life.

While time will tell, I got these for my senior dog and to him they are just another treat. He seems to like them, and although he's got some dental issues, he seems to be able to chew them just fine. I'm about two weeks in feeding this to my 11 year old Newfoundland Dog. He's in overall great shape, but he has slowed down the last year or two, and he has some arthritis in one of his knees. As he is my hospice volunteer partner, keeping him in excellent condition is super important to me, as well as to his patients, so this was a no-brainer to give a try. While I haven't noticed a huge difference in him so far, he seems to have a little more spring in his step, and he seems to be getting up easier from a prone position. In addition, he seems to enjoy the taste, as he eats this right up with his food with his evening meal. I plan on keeping him on this for a couple months, and if I see any type of major change in his condition, I will update this review accordingly. At $38 for 90 (as of the time of this review), this is a fairly expensive product, especially for a giant dog that requires multiple chews per day. If I continue to see good things, I'll keep buying it, but if all I experience is placebo effect, I'll probably discontinue quickly, as I don't mind spending the money as long as it is super effective. If not, adios.

Please, hear me when I say, my 10 year old Chi is doing SO much better since he began taking this!! His eyes are brighter, he's dancing again, he's for a spring to his step and can keep up with his sister again!! His legs are no longer shaking when he squats to pee, and his mobility all around is so much better. (**Huge sigh of relief ensues**). My dog isn't just part of my family, he's my ride-or-die. So when I found this senior dog supplement, I was skeptical but hopeful. When they arrived, I instantly tore into them, just hoping to see a glimmer ofy old friend who had vitality and joy in his eyes. First off, the texture and taste of these is such that he gobbles them down...unlike so many other supplements I've bought that I've had to smash up into his food. These are so easy to use...he gobbles them right down. The texture is pleasing and smooth and they're obviously tasty. But most of all, they're so highly effective, I'd love to give the owner of this company a big hug. And last of all, I can afford them. $20 a month is nothing to have my sweet companion's youth and vitality back! The value for the money is off the charts. I'd Highly recommend these for your older fur babies!! They're more than just our family. They're our best friends who always love us, they're always glad to see us (even when we're only gone a few minutes!) and they're always there. They're golden. And they deserve the very best for us. I'd go broke to care for him, and thanks to these, I don't have to!!

While it will be awhile before I know whether this supplement helps my senior dog, I do know this is a product that is made in the USA, which is very important to me. I researched the ingredients before ordering to ensure they are safe, as well. I feel confident in giving these, and I am really picky about what I give my pets, especially supplements ordered online. My dog thinks everything tastes delicious and this is no exception. She could smell the chews before I opened the jar. They do come sealed in a plastic jar. I anticipate these will be a regular addition to her diet for her well being.

These supplements are great. My dog is a little over 10 years old and I can see the effectiveness. They are very big, so it’s chewable, the texture isn’t rough and it’s very digest. Great value for the money. We are pleased.

Decided to try this up for my older dog to support joint health and overall aging, and the ingredient profile is definitely different from your typical joint supplement. It includes PQQ and palmitoylethanolamide (PEA), which aren’t as common but are supposed to support cellular health and inflammation.
The chews themselves are a good size, and my dogs had no problem eating them, which is always a win. They seem well made and don’t have an overpowering smell.
That said, it’s still a bit early to tell how much of a difference it’s making. With supplements like this, especially ones focused on long-term support, it usually takes time to really see noticeable results.
Overall, I like the unique approach and the fact that it goes beyond the usual glucosamine-type formulas, but I’ll need more time using it to fully judge effectiveness.

The ingredient seems to be good and will help your dog stay youthful and mobile. I can’t really speak on too much regarding these because they are for senior dogs and my dog hasn’t reach that age yet.

We have a senior dog. We've been giving her this for about a week and to my surprise she's responded well to it. She seems more energetic and isn't having the occassional limp so far.
She readily takes the treat with no problems and we've not exerpienced any negative side effects.
